2008 - 2009 Independent Longitudinal Study

The opportunity for Viti to reconnect with some of the participants from her earlier fieldwork in 2008 / 2009 has been a delight.

When Viti first interviewed rural, regional, remote and provincial small business women throughout 2003 / 2005 she raised the possibility of a follow-up longitudinal study.

Keeping that IDEA alive has required Viti maintaining communication with this group on an annual basis.

The 2008 / 2009 follow-up study has been completed and was sponsored by Bear Fruit.

This type of information gathering is intrinsic to research based products and services.

Participants were informed of the independent nature of this particularstudy and its purpose so permission agreement forms were necessary.

The 2008 / 2009 study focuses on the changes that have taken place: personal and business levels, succession planning, sold, closed their business and influential factors. Due to the scale and travel associated with Viti's honorary fieldwork participants in the 2008/2009 fieldwork were offered the following methodologies:

1. One on one interviews for those operating in the South West of WA

2. Telephone interview and online questionnaire

Indicators are that numerous changes have taken place in the personal and business lives of these regional women and Viti looks forward to uploading an overview from this study when circumstances permits.
